About Art by Chelsea Anne
Creativity doesn't have to look one particular way.
I'm Chelsea — artist, creative educator and the person behind Art by Chelsea Anne.
I create artwork, run creative experiences and provide spaces where people can explore their creativity without needing to fit a particular mould.
From a child's first tentative marks to an adult rediscovering something they loved doing years ago, to a commissioned artwork created around someone deeply loved, creativity can mean something different to everyone.
That's what Art by Chelsea Anne is here for.
More than making art
I've never believed creativity is only about being "good at art".
For me, it's about having somewhere to explore an idea, express something you can't quite put into words, try something you've never tried before, or simply take a moment away from everything else.
Sometimes creativity is playful.
Sometimes it's challenging.
Sometimes it's messy.
Sometimes it becomes something deeply meaningful that you keep for years.
Art by Chelsea Anne brings all of those things together — through artwork, creative classes, workshops and commissions.
Because creativity can give us something we didn't realise we needed.
I don't have just one style - and I don't want to.
My own artwork moves between realism, darker and more atmospheric work, softer and lighter pieces, experimentation and everything in between.
I'm interested in where an idea takes me rather than forcing everything I create into one particular aesthetic.
That variety is part of what I love about being an artist.
One piece might be carefully detailed and realistic. Another might be strange, dark, playful or completely unexpected.
Art can change. I can change. The work can change. And that's okay.
Creating space for young artists to discover what they’re capable of
My Creative Kids Classes aren't about making every child create the same artwork or following a rigid lesson every week.
They're about giving children the opportunity to explore.
Sometimes that means learning a particular drawing technique. Sometimes it means experimenting with clay, paint or mixed media. Sometimes they arrive with a project already forming in their head and need help figuring out how to make it happen.
And sometimes they simply need an hour where they can decompress, make something and be themselves.
I provide guidance, teach skills and offer ideas, but I also want children to have ownership of what they create.
The goal isn't to make every child an artist. It's to help them discover that their ideas are worth exploring.
A place to put everything else down for a while
My adult workshops are a little different.
They're less about learning how to become an artist and more about giving yourself permission to do something creative.
Come with a friend. Come by yourself. Try something you've never done. Make something ridiculous. Laugh when it doesn't go to plan.
There's no expectation that you need to be artistic or produce something worthy of hanging in a gallery.
It's simply a few hours to create, connect and enjoy yourself.
Sometimes art holds a piece of someone’s story.
Some of the most meaningful work I create is made for someone else. A portrait of a beloved pet. A piece created to honour someone who has passed. A gift created around a person, place or memory. Something made specifically because a photograph wasn't quite enough to capture what that person, animal or moment meant. These pieces remind me why I create in the first place. Art doesn't always need to say something. Sometimes it simply needs to make you feel something.
A little about Chelsea
I'm a creative person at heart, and I've always found myself happiest when I'm making, experimenting, learning or helping someone else bring an idea to life.
Alongside creating my own artwork, I work with children and adults through creative classes and workshops, and I create commissioned artwork for people who want something genuinely personal.
I love the variety of it all.
One day might involve helping a child work out how to build the tiny world they've imagined. Another might involve working on a detailed commission, preparing a workshop or experimenting with an entirely new idea of my own.
I wouldn't want it any other way.
There is always something new to make, learn or discover.
-
There’s no single right way to be creative.
-
Trying something and discovering what happens is often more valuable than getting it right the first time.
-
Your artwork, your child’s project and your creative experience don’t need to look like anyone else’s.
-
Creativity can bring people together, give us space to express ourselves and create memories.
-
Whether it’s something you make yourself or something I create for you, I want it to have a reason for being there.
