Creative art classes for children who enjoy making, experimenting and developing their artistic skills with individual guidance and encouragement.

A typical hour in the studio
No two classes look exactly the same.
Depending on what your child is interested in, they might continue an existing project, choose from materials and project ideas available in the studio, work on a particular artistic skill or start something completely new.
When they arrive, I'll help them find a starting point if they need one, then provide guidance as they work.
A child might spend the hour:
Drawing or painting
Working with clay or other 3D materials
Exploring mixed media
Building or creating with different materials
Developing a personal project
Learning a particular technique
Continuing something they've started previously
The activity may change, but the support remains consistent.
Skills grow alongside creativity
Children can develop a wide range of artistic skills through the projects and ideas they are interested in.
Depending on what they’re working on, this might include:
Drawing
Proportions, observation, line, shading, perspective and working from reference.
3D & Sculpture
Building, shaping, joining, structure and working with materials such as clay.
Creative Problem-Solving
Working out how to turn an idea into something they can actually make — and what to do if the first approach doesn’t work.
Painting
Colour mixing, brush techniques, composition, layering and experimenting with different approaches.
Mixed Media
Combining materials and techniques to create something unique.
Skills are introduced and developed at a level appropriate to the individual child, rather than expecting everyone to be at the same stage.
Want to focus on drawing?
Absolutely.
Children can dedicate their class time to drawing if that's where their interests lie. Guidance can include everything from basic drawing skills through to more specific areas such as proportions, reference, shading or developing a particular subject.
Group classes aren't a fixed drawing curriculum, however, so children aren't required to follow the same drawing lesson each week.
For more intensive focus on a particular skill or project, one-on-one sessions are also available.
What if they don’t want to do the planned activity?
That's okay.
Planned activities are there to provide inspiration and a starting point — they're not a requirement to create the exact same finished piece as everyone else.
If a child has another idea, we can look at how to adapt the activity, use the materials differently or find another creative direction.
The aim is to keep them engaged in creating while still giving them opportunities to learn and develop their skills.
Will they come home with artwork?
Often, yes — but not necessarily every week.
Some projects can be completed in one session, while others are developed over several classes. Some sessions may be focused on practising a skill, experimenting with a new medium or working through an idea.
The finished piece is only part of the experience.

Homeschool Creatives

A relaxed, social creative session where homeschoolers can follow their own ideas and create alongside others.

What happens next?

Choose the class that best matches how your child likes to create. Each session has a different focus, while still allowing plenty of room for individual ideas, interests and creative freedom.

You’ll receive the information you need before their first session.

I’ll help your child settle in, get familiar with the studio and find something creative to begin with.

As they become comfortable, we’ll discover the materials, skills and projects they enjoy most.

No experience necessary, just the desire to create and explore.

We endeavour to supply all materials; however, if your child has a project in mind, feel free to drop us a message to check we have (or can get) the required materials if their idea is inspired between classes.

Yes, if there is a spot available, they are more than welcome to join us anytime throughout the term.

Yes, we often have siblings opting to stay in the same class. Just get in contact to see if there is a class best suited for both ages.

It happens, and that’s okay! If they start to miss a lot of classes, then we can get together and see if there is a better solution; however, we appreciate being notified as soon as you know, so anyone on the waitlist has the opportunity to jump in!

If we have a spot open on another day, your child is more than welcome to change days if it better suits them and your family’s needs.

Yes. Group and individual sessions can work alongside each other.

If your child is feeling a little nervous, you are more than welcome to stay. If the studio is full, we have seating under the deck where you will both be in view of each other until they are more comfortable with the class.
