Art classes for children who want somewhere to explore, experiment, learn and create — without having to make the same thing as everyone else.
At Art by Chelsea Anne, children are encouraged to follow their creative interests while receiving the support and guidance they need to develop their skills and confidence.

There isn't one right way to be creative.
Some children arrive knowing exactly what they want to make.
Others aren't sure where to start.
Some want to spend weeks developing their drawing skills. Others would rather build, paint, sculpt, experiment or combine a little bit of everything.
And sometimes a child simply needs an hour to switch off after a busy day.
All of those children belong here.
The classes are guided, supported and intentionally planned — but the creative journey doesn't have to look the same for every child.
So, what actually happens in class?
Each session begins with possibilities.
There may be a project to explore, different materials available to experiment with, or ideas children can use as a starting point. But they're encouraged to make choices about what they want to create.
A child might:
work on a drawing or painting
experiment with a new medium
continue a project from a previous week
create something completely from their imagination
bring an idea from home
learn a particular skill they're interested in
try something unexpected just to see what happens
If they're unsure where to begin, I'll help them find a starting point.
If they don't know how to do something, we'll work it out together.
And if their first idea doesn't work? That's okay too. We try another approach, adjust it, or turn the happy accident into something new.
The aim isn't for every child to leave with the same finished artwork. It's for them to have been supported in exploring what they can create.
Freedom doesn’t mean they’re left to figure it out alone.
Chelsea actively works alongside each child, adapting her guidance to their age, confidence, experience and what they're trying to achieve.
Sometimes that means demonstrating a technique.
Sometimes it means breaking a drawing into smaller steps.
Sometimes it means working alongside them.
Sometimes it means asking the right question and giving them the opportunity to find their own answer.
And sometimes it means recognising that the way we're explaining something isn't working — and trying a different approach.
Children are encouraged to experiment, problem-solve and take small creative risks, knowing they can change, adjust and try again.
Skills are taught in context — because learning something is often much more meaningful when it's helping you create something you actually want to make.
What if my child really wants to learn drawing?
They absolutely can.
Drawing is one of the many skills children can develop in class, and Chelsea can provide guidance with things like proportions, using reference images, breaking down complex subjects and developing confidence with different drawing techniques.
The difference is that our group classes aren't a fixed drawing curriculum where every child completes the same lesson each week.
If your child wants to focus on drawing, we can support that. If they want to explore something completely different the following week, they can do that too.
For children wanting sustained, focused instruction in a particular skill or project, one-on-one sessions are also available.
Creative Kids Classes
Create alongside other artists.
Our regular group classes offer a supportive creative environment where children can explore different materials, develop their skills and work on ideas of their own. They're ideal for children who enjoy the energy of creating alongside others and want an ongoing creative outlet outside school.
One-on-One Creative Sessions
Focused support, individual attention or simply a quieter space to create.
One-on-one sessions can be tailored entirely to the child.
They may want to work intensively on drawing or another artistic skill, develop a particular project, receive extra support with something they're struggling with, or simply enjoy having dedicated creative time without the distractions of a group.
There's no requirement to commit long-term. A child attending group classes can book an individual session when they want to focus on something specific, then return to their regular class afterwards.
Your child doesn’t have to choose one forever.
Children's interests, confidence and needs can change.
That's why our group and individual sessions are designed to work together.
A child might normally attend group classes but book a few one-on-one sessions while they're developing a particular skill or project.
Another child might begin with individual sessions because they prefer a quieter environment, then decide they're ready to join a group.
The format can change when they do.

What will my child come home with?
Sometimes they'll come home proudly carrying a finished artwork.
Sometimes they'll bring home a project they've been developing over several weeks.
And sometimes they'll come home having experimented, practised a skill, solved a problem or simply spent an hour creating.
There won't always be a finished masterpiece — and that's okay.
What we want them to take home is the confidence to try, the experience of exploring something new, and the knowledge that their ideas are worth pursuing.
